Mooo-sic to our ears …..
February 2, 2026Brick Lane Music Hall first opened its doors in February 1992, in Londonโs famous Brick Lane – from where it took its name. The first Music Hall to open since the war years, Brick Lane Music Hall is the only permanent home for music hall in the UK, with an annual programme of shows based on the traditional ethos of the original music halls.
An early review in The London Evening Standard described “An atmosphere of dissenting comic anarchy in tune with the original spirit of music hall.โ
The brainchild of Vincent Hayes, Brick Lane Music Hall moved from its original home in Brick Lane to a larger venue in Shoreditch before settling in its current home in Silvertown, in London’s Docklands, in 2004. The theatre’s continued success has been achieved through the vision of Vincent and his team, together with his fellow artists.ย Vincent received an MBE in 2013 for Services to British Music Hall, not just for upholding the traditions of music hall, but also for his commitment to serving the wider community through the Brick Lane Music Hall Charity, which has always taken shows out to the elderly in care homes and hospices, as well as supporting local youth charities and working closely with local schools.
The theatre continues to celebrate those traditional values, with a warm East End welcome combined with what The Stage newspaper has described asย โan old fashioned sense of funโ.
โFor more than three decades, Vincent Hayes MBE has been keeping the spirit of British Music Hall alive in the heart of East London. As founder and host of Brick Lane Music Hall โ the UKโs only permanent home for the genre set in a gorgeous former church, heโs built a place where laughter, song, and community come together under one roof.โ Fab Uk Magazineย
โThe fast-moving revue-style format with a regularly changing special theme feels bang up-to-date and itโs a comedy-and-song format that has never been bettered, while itโs no clichรฉ to describe the sets, costumes, staging and terrific cast as being of West End quality……ย few entertainment venues hold a candle to this premiere house of fun. To me, spending a night at Brick Lane Music Hall is like giving yourself an award for just being alive!โย Roger Foss, LBC Radio
โHayes is a master of the craft, his skill sharpened by a long-standing passion for music hall dating back to opening his original venue (in Brick Lane) back in 1992โฆ Thirty-three years later heโs still going strong, and a few hours spent in his โ and his friends โ glittering company shows you why.โย The Spy in the Stalls
โThis music hall is not only rooted in the past, it is also firmly looking to the future โ West End Best Friend
