After more than 40 years in pantomime, Nigel could probably be said to be the ultimate doyen of pantomime. One of the few performers who regularly squeezes in two pantomimes a season, he also lives and breathes pantomime most of the year – with his Pantomime Roadshow which introduces pantomime to school children around the UK, and his website it’s-behind-you.com, which is the ultimate guide to British pantomime.
If this were not enough, he writes and designs pantomimes and designs costumes for pantomimes around the country, as well as designing and making all of his own!
A keen pantomime historian, Nigel has appeared on many television and radio programmes, from Ready Steady Cook to The Krankies, the Channel Four documentary Pantoland, Dickinson’s Real Deal and Text Santa.
At Brick Lane Music Hall, Nigel played Betty Swallocks in Big Dick Whittington, suffered the iniquities of Nurse Vera Minge in Babes in the Wood, appeared as the Wicked Queen in Jack and his Giant Stalk, Poison Ivy in Schlepping Beauty, most recently taking on the role of Slave of the Ring in Aladdin, a part he described as an interesting combination of Dame and Principal Boy.
