Andrew started his singing career at the age of seven as a chorister at Carlisle Cathedral. He went on to appear on ITV’s Praise to Pop. Despite training as a chef, the stage always beckoned and “The Singing Chef” became his billing for the next few years. Andrew went on to win the BBC’s Search For A Star, which led to hosting his own radio show and starring in productions of Oklahoma, Brigadoon, Carousel and Salad Days. Festive seasons were spent filming the yearly Christmas pantomime for Border Television.
In the early 1980’s, Andrew took to the high seas, where he is still a star in his own right, three times winning the coveted award of Silver Sea’s Entertainer of the Year. Andrew appeared for many years in the Cascade Review at the West Cliff Theatre, Clacton. He has recorded six albums and appeared as soloist with the Liverpool Philharmonic and in Royal Variety Performances.
Andrew has appeared many times over the years at Brick Lane Music Hall, including memorable pantomime appearances, from the best dressed cat in pantoland, through to taking on the role of Dame, from Sarah the Cook to Widow Twankey. In 2019 he took on the iconic role of Mother Goose.
Andrew also regularly performs in our Outreach shows, including memorable visits to a local hospice in the Colchester area and a magnificent performance organised by Brick Lane Music Hall’s old friend, Sister Christine Frost for the Neighbours in Poplar Charity.
